Squat counter
Stand back so the camera sees you from head to feet, and it counts every squat. Front-on or side-on both work.
Counting runs in your browser. Camera video never leaves your device, and nothing is recorded or stored.
How to set it up
- Prop your phone or laptop at about waist height, 2 to 3 meters (7 to 10 feet) away.
- Tap Count with camera and allow access.
- Step back until your whole body, including your feet, is in the frame.
- Squat. Each rep counts when you stand back up.
What counts as a rep
The counter compares your thighs with your shins. A rep counts when your thighs drop toward level (around parallel to the floor), then you stand back up tall. Shallow dips don't count, and a wobble at the bottom won't count twice. The same check works from the front and the side, so you can face whichever way suits your room.
Squat form checklist
- Feet about shoulder-width apart, toes turned out slightly.
- Sit your hips back and down, as if onto a chair.
- Knees track over your toes. Don't let them cave in.
- Chest up, heels down, and drive up through your whole foot.
Try a squat challenge
Start with a set you can do with clean form, then add five reps each day for 30 days. Or go by time: set a goal like 50 squats, and watch your reps per minute climb as you get fitter.
Squats are one of RepOut's go-to drills when an urge hits: 30 of them get your heart rate up fast, and the camera counts them for you.
Questions
Is my video recorded or uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser and the video never leaves your device.
Does it count jump squats or sumo squats?
Yes, as long as your thighs come down toward level and your knees, hips and ankles stay in view.
Why isn't it counting my squats?
Step back so your feet are in the frame, use a well-lit room, and squat down until your thighs are close to parallel.
